Physiotherapy near Bargeddie
Bargeddie sits on the western edge of North Lanarkshire, between Baillieston and Coatbridge, close to where the M8 and M73 meet. Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance is about five kilometres east, on Cameron Street in the north of Coatbridge, and the drive is a straightforward one along the A89.
If you are dealing with a sore back, a sports injury or recovery after an operation, Kieran Chapman offers one-to-one, 45 minute sessions with enough time to properly understand the problem. He is HCPC registered, and his experience spans MSK physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab.
Appointments are booked online with live availability, and there are evening and Saturday options for anyone who works in Glasgow or further afield during the week.

Bargeddie
Cycle paths, canal towpaths and youth football in Bargeddie
Bargeddie only dates from the 1930s, when the first council houses went up at Dykehead, but it now sits right beside the M8 and M73 junction and the Showcase Leisure Park, with its cinema and Hollywood Bowl. Living next to two motorways makes commuting by car easy, and long drives are a reliable way to stiffen up the neck, shoulders and lower back.
For exercise, National Cycle Network Route 75 passes through on its way between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Not far beyond Bargeddie station it leaves the roads for the Monkland Canal towpath, then runs through Drumpellier Country Park and around Lochend Loch before finishing near Summerlee in Coatbridge. It is a traffic-free route for walking, running or cycling, and over the miles it is also very good at finding out a stiff knee or a grumbling hip.
There is youth football in the village too, with Bargeddie Colts running teams for local children, and the village also has a carpet bowling club. Young players and their coaches pick up the usual ankle sprains, groin strains and knee pain, while a long afternoon on the carpet can tell on the back and knees of any bowler.
Areas covered
- Dykehead
- Braehead
- Bartonshill
- Drumpellier Lawns
- The Fairways
- Burnside View
Bargeddie is small enough for this page to cover all of it: the original Dykehead estate, Braehead and Bartonshill, and the newer streets at Drumpellier Lawns, The Fairways and Burnside View. From any of them the A89 is the natural way east into Coatbridge, through Langloan and on to Sunnyside Road.
Treatment
What Kieran can help with
Injury assessment
Your opening session is an injury assessment covering your history, symptoms and goals, followed by a physical examination of movement and strength. Kieran then explains what he has found and sets out a plan, so you know what to expect from the sessions that follow.
More about injury assessment →
Rehabilitation
Rehab focuses on rebuilding strength and confidence in the injured area. Alongside hands-on work you get a progressive exercise plan in your online account, which is handy if you would rather do your exercises on the canal towpath or at home than in a gym.

Deep tissue and sports massage
Sports massage is useful before or after a long ride or run on NCN 75, and deep tissue work can help with the tension that builds up after hours of driving. Sessions can be booked by themselves or as part of rehab.

Acupuncture, cupping and taping
Acupuncture, cupping and taping are tools Kieran can add within treatment rather than a replacement for exercise. He will talk through whether they are likely to suit you before using them.

Questions
Coming from Bargeddie
Is the train from Bargeddie any use for getting to the clinic?
Only partly. Bargeddie station is on the Whifflet Line, and its trains call at Kirkwood and Whifflet rather than the stations nearest Cameron Street. The 222 bus to Coatbridge bus stance, then a connecting bus to Alston Avenue, is likely to be simpler.
Can I come in on a Saturday?
Yes. Saturday appointments are available, as are evenings. Book online and you will see live availability, so you can pick a time that suits.
Will I be given exercises to do at home?
Yes. Rehabilitation includes a progressive exercise plan set up in your own online account, with exercises you can do at home, in the park or before a ride along the canal. Kieran reviews and updates it at each appointment.
Do I need a GP referral, and how does payment work?
You do not need a referral for private physiotherapy. New patients pay a deposit online to secure the booking, which comes off the price, and complete a short consultation form beforehand. Returning patients pay at the appointment by cash or card.
