Physiotherapy in Coatbridge
Physiotherapist in Coatbridge
Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance is based at 10 Cameron Street, in the north of Coatbridge just off Waverley Street. For anyone living in the town, that puts a physiotherapist on your doorstep: a short drive from Whifflet, Kirkwood or Townhead, and within walking distance of Sunnyside, Dunbeth and Greenhill. The clinic is run by Kieran Chapman, an HCPC registered physiotherapist.
Kieran's experience covers musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab. That range means appointments are not only for sports injuries. A stiff neck after a run of long shifts, knees that have started complaining on the stairs, getting moving again after an operation, or rebuilding confidence after a spell of illness are all good reasons to book. Every appointment is one-to-one and lasts 45 minutes, so there is time to examine the problem properly and explain what is going on.
Booking happens online, where you can see live availability and choose an evening or Saturday slot if weekdays are taken up with work. Private physiotherapy does not need a GP referral, so you can go straight ahead and book.

Coatbridge
Staying active around Coatbridge
Coatbridge has more places to keep moving than its industrial reputation suggests. Drumpellier Country Park, on the west side of town, hosts the Drumpellier Country parkrun, a two lap 5k that mixes lochside tarmac with woodland trail, plus a 2k junior event on Sunday mornings. The Monkland Canal runs along the park's southern edge, and the Time Capsule on Buchanan Street packs a 25 metre pool, an ice rink and one of the busiest gyms in North Lanarkshire under one roof.
Team sport is well covered too. Albion Rovers play at Cliftonhill, Waysiders Drumpellier play rugby at Langloan, a ground they share with Drumpellier Cricket Club, and golfers can choose between Drumpellier Golf Club and the Lochview course on Townhead Road. Each comes with its own familiar complaints: hamstrings and ankles in football, shoulders and necks in rugby, lower backs and elbows on the golf course.
Plenty of the aches that send people to a physio have nothing to do with sport. Coatbridge has long been a town of physical work, from its ironworks past to the freight, warehouse and trade jobs around estates like Greenhill today, and years of lifting, loading or sitting in a cab take a toll on backs, shoulders and knees.

Because the clinic is inside Coatbridge itself, nowhere in town is far away. Sunnyside, Dunbeth, Greenhill and Coatdyke surround Cameron Street. Whifflet, Shawhead and Greenend lie a few minutes south across Main Street. Langloan, Kirkwood and Old Monkland sit to the south-west along Bank Street and Woodside Street, while Blairhill, Gartsherrie and Townhead are out to the west and north-west, linked by Gartsherrie Road. Wherever you are in ML5, getting to an appointment should only take a few minutes.
Treatment
What Kieran can help with
Injury assessment
The first appointment is a full injury assessment. Kieran asks how the problem started, what makes it better or worse and what you need to get back to, whether that is a Saturday parkrun at Drumpellier or a full shift on your feet, then examines how you move. You leave understanding what is going on and what the plan is.

Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation combines hands-on treatment in the clinic with a progressive exercise plan. Your exercises are set up in your own online account, with the detail you need to do them properly at home or in the gym at the Time Capsule, and Kieran adjusts them as you progress.

Deep tissue and sports massage
Deep tissue and sports massage can help ease muscle tension and leave you feeling looser after hard training or a physical week at work. It can be booked on its own as a maintenance session or sit alongside a rehab plan.

Acupuncture, cupping and taping
Acupuncture, cupping and taping are available as part of treatment where Kieran thinks they suit you. Taping can give a knee, ankle or shoulder some extra support while you keep playing, training or working.

Questions
Coming from Coatbridge
Where exactly is the clinic in Coatbridge?
At 10 Cameron Street, ML5 2EJ, in the north of the town. Cameron Street leads off the B803 close to where Burnbank Street meets Waverley Street, near Greenhill and Sunnyside.
Which train station is closest to Cameron Street?
Coatbridge Sunnyside and Coatdyke, both on the North Clyde Line, are the nearest, each roughly a kilometre away on foot. Coatbridge Central and Whifflet, on the Argyle Line, are further from the clinic.
Can I come after work?
Yes. There are evening and Saturday appointments, and live availability is shown when you book online, so you can see what fits around your shifts before you commit.
Do I need to see my GP first?
No. You can book private physiotherapy directly without a GP referral. New patients pay a deposit online when booking, which comes off the price of the session, and fill in a short consultation form before the first visit. Returning patients pay at the appointment by cash or card.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Something comfortable that lets Kieran see and move the area being treated. Shorts work well for knee, hip or ankle problems, and a vest top or loose t-shirt makes it easier to look at shoulders, necks and upper backs.
