Physiotherapy for Chryston and Muirhead
Chryston and Muirhead blend into one another along Cumbernauld Road so completely that most locals treat them as a single place, so this page is written for both. Whether a knee has been complaining since your last round at Crow Wood or your lower back seizes up after a long day in the car, Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance is close by at 10 Cameron Street, on the north side of Coatbridge.
Kieran Chapman is an HCPC registered physiotherapist. His experience covers MSK physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab, so he is comfortable with anything from a freshly rolled ankle to the slow rebuild after a joint operation. Every appointment lasts 45 minutes and is one to one with Kieran, never handed over to an assistant halfway through.
There is no need to see your GP first. You choose a time on the online diary, which includes evening and Saturday appointments, pay a deposit that is taken off the price, and complete a short consultation form at home. By the time you walk in, Kieran already knows the outline of the problem and can spend the session on you rather than on paperwork.

Chryston
Golf, railway paths and lochside walks around Chryston
Crow Wood Golf Club, a James Braid design laid out on the old Garnkirk Estate in 1925, sits on Cumbernauld Road in Muirhead. Golf is a familiar source of the aches physios hear about: an upper back too stiff to complete the turn, a sore elbow from range sessions, or a lower back that has had enough of eighteen holes of rotation. A short assessment often shows whether the issue is mobility, strength or simply load.
For walkers and cyclists, the Strathkelvin Railway Path runs along the edge of the village towards Moodiesburn and on to Kirkintilloch, and Johnston Loch and Bishop Loch near Gartcosh offer flatter loops for anyone easing back into exercise. Closer to home, the Chryston Community Hub has a gym hall and an outdoor gym, while Chryston High School on Lindsaybeg Road keeps plenty of teenagers training and playing sport, with the growing pains and overuse niggles that tend to come with it.
Many households here commute by car on the M80 and M73, and long spells behind the wheel or at a desk are a common backdrop to neck and back pain that builds slowly over months rather than arriving with one obvious injury.

- Muirhead
- Mount Ellen
- Belhaven Park
- Garnkirk
- Auchinloch
As well as Chryston and Muirhead themselves, this page is meant for Mount Ellen on the road down to Gartcosh, the Belhaven Park homes on the southern side of Muirhead, the old Garnkirk lands towards Stepps, and Auchinloch just across the boundary in East Dunbartonshire. All of them sit a few miles north west of Coatbridge, and once you clear Gartcosh the clinic is only a short hop further on.
Treatment
What Kieran can help with
Injury assessment
Your first visit is an injury assessment. Kieran talks through how the problem started, whether that was a slip on a wet fairway or a gradual ache from hours of driving, then checks movement, strength and the structures involved. You leave with a clear explanation and a plan you can follow.
More about injury assessment →
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation pairs hands-on treatment in the clinic with a progressive exercise plan that lives in your own online account. That makes it easy to keep going between appointments, whether you do the exercises at home, at the Community Hub outdoor gym or before a round of golf.

Deep tissue and sports massage
Deep tissue and sports massage can ease tight, overworked muscles and help you move more comfortably. It suits golfers with a stubborn upper back, walkers with tight calves after a long stretch of the railway path, and anyone carrying tension from a desk job.

Acupuncture, cupping and taping
Acupuncture, cupping and taping are available as part of a wider plan when Kieran thinks they will help. Taping in particular can give a sore ankle or knee some extra support while you build back strength.
