Physiotherapy within easy reach of Uddingston

If you live in Uddingston, Bothwell or on the Tannochside side of the M74 and something has started to hurt, whether that is a knee that grumbles on the stairs, a shoulder that will not settle or a back that stiffens after a shift on your feet, Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance is a short drive north on Cameron Street in Coatbridge. The clinic sits just over the council boundary in North Lanarkshire, and the A725 makes the journey a simple one.

Every appointment is a one-to-one, 45 minute session with Kieran Chapman, an HCPC registered physiotherapist. His experience covers MSK physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab, so his work is not limited to sports strains: it also takes in recovery after surgery and changes in movement linked to the nervous system or the heart.

You do not need a GP referral. Booking is online with live availability, and evening and Saturday appointments help if your weekdays are spent working in Glasgow, Hamilton or at one of the businesses around Bothwell Park on Bellshill Road.

Uddingston

Cricket, rugby and riverside miles in Uddingston

Uddingston punches well above its size for sport. The Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club, in the Bothwell Castle grounds off Castle Avenue, dates back to 1883 and is also home to Uddingston RFC, Uddingston Hockey Club and the Hamilton Harriers running club. Add a bowling and tennis club founded in 1863 plus golf at Calderbraes and Bothwell Castle, and plenty of local weekends involve sprinting, tackling, swinging and lunging. Hamstring pulls, rolled ankles, sore shoulders and stiff lower backs tend to follow that sort of activity, and they are exactly the kind of problem a physiotherapist can assess and plan around.

Away from organised sport, the Clyde Walkway and National Cycle Route 75 both pass through the town, and the riverside stretch from Uddingston towards Blantyre runs past Bothwell Castle on a path of dirt, roots and short climbs. It is lovely walking, but uneven ground is where knees, ankles and hips get tested. Work plays a part as well: Tunnock's is the town's major employer, and long spells on your feet, repetitive tasks or hours at a desk can all load the neck, shoulders and back in ways that build up quietly over months.

Questions

Coming from Uddingston

Is it worth travelling from Uddingston to Coatbridge for physiotherapy?

For most of G71 it is a short trip. Using the A725, the drive is typically about 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour, and because sessions are booked online with live availability you can pick a time that avoids the busiest traffic.

Is there a train from Uddingston to the clinic?

Not a direct one. Services from Uddingston station head towards Glasgow Central, Motherwell and Edinburgh, while Coatbridge Sunnyside, about a kilometre from Cameron Street, is on the North Clyde line. A journey planner such as Traveline Scotland will show current connections, but driving is the practical choice from Uddingston.

Can a weekend rugby or hockey knock be seen on a Saturday?

Saturday appointments are available, as are evenings, so an injury picked up during a game does not have to wait until you can get time off work. Book online and choose any slot that shows as free.

Does a physio appointment need a referral from a Uddingston GP?

No. Private physiotherapy can be booked directly without a GP referral. New patients fill in a short consultation form online before the first visit, which gives Kieran your background before you arrive.

How does payment work?

New patients pay a deposit online when booking, and it comes off the price of the session. Once you are a returning patient, you pay at the appointment by cash or card.
