Physiotherapy for Viewpark and Tannochside

Viewpark has no railway station of its own and most of its buses point towards Glasgow or Motherwell, so when people here look for a physio they usually think about where they can drive easily. Coatbridge is a good answer. Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance is at 10 Cameron Street, and from Old Edinburgh Road it is a straightforward run up the Bellshill bypass.

Kieran Chapman runs the clinic. He is an HCPC registered physiotherapist whose experience covers MSK physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab, which suits the wide mix of problems a community like Viewpark brings: sports knocks, work strain, arthritic joints, recovery after surgery and more.

Appointments are always one to one and last 45 minutes. You pick your slot on the online booking page, which shows live availability with evening and Saturday options, and a GP referral is not needed. First time patients pay a deposit online that is knocked off the price and fill in a short consultation form; after that you simply pay at each visit by card or cash.

Viewpark

Gardens, glens and a strong sporting streak in Viewpark

This is the community that gave Scottish football Jimmy Johnstone, remembered in a memorial garden on Old Edinburgh Road, and John Robertson of Nottingham Forest fame. The sporting tradition carries on with Thorniewood United, the junior club at Robertson Park, amateur sides Viewpark United and Calderbraes, Viewpark Boxing Club at the Burnhead Community Centre, and Burnhead Bowling Club. Boxing and football in particular put a lot of strain on shoulders, wrists, hips and knees, and a niggle ignored through a season can turn into something more stubborn.

For gentler exercise, Viewpark Gardens has a park, allotments and a walled flower garden in the old grounds of Viewpark House, and the woodland of Viewpark Glen offers paths through the trees. Gala Day Park sits behind the shops at Market Place. Many residents work locally at Righead Industrial Estate, Tannochside Business Park or Strathclyde Business Park, or commute via the M74 and M8, so lifting at work and long periods in the car or at a desk are frequent reasons for back and neck pain.

Areas covered

  • Tannochside
  • Birkenshaw
  • Bellziehill
  • Calderbraes
  • Fallside

Viewpark takes in Tannochside, where most of the newer housing has gone up on former industrial land, along with Birkenshaw, Bellziehill, Calderbraes and Fallside, the last of which once had its own station. All of these sit between Uddingston and Bellshill, and the A725 bypass on their eastern edge is the quickest way north to Coatbridge.
