Physiotherapy for Shettleston

Shettleston sits on two of the most useful routes out of the east end: the A89 and the Airdrie railway line. Both run straight to Coatbridge, which is where Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance works from, at 10 Cameron Street. If you live off Shettleston Road, up in Budhill or down towards Sandyhills, the clinic is closer than most people assume.

Kieran Chapman is an HCPC registered physiotherapist. His experience spans MSK physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab, so the clinic sees everything from a stiff neck after a long week to rebuilding strength after an operation. Every session is one-to-one and lasts 45 minutes, which leaves room to examine properly, treat, and talk through what comes next.

You do not need a GP referral for private physio. Pick a time online, where the calendar shows live availability, including evenings and Saturdays.

Shettleston

Running roots, football and a working east end

Few parts of Glasgow have a running history like this one. Shettleston Harriers was founded in 1904 at a meeting in a local tearoom, and its first clubhouse was a small shop on Gartocher Road. The club trains at the Crownpoint Sports Complex these days, but the name still carries the district. Distance runners and cross country athletes tend to pick up the same handful of complaints: sore Achilles tendons, shin pain, tight calves and hip niggles that build over a winter of hard mileage.

Football is the other constant. Glasgow United, the club that began life as Shettleston Juniors in 1903, has been part of the area for well over a century, and the council owned Greenfield Football Centre sits close by for anyone who plays through the week. Small sided games on artificial pitches are hard on ankles, knees and groins, because of all the sharp turns and short sprints.

Further south, Sandyhills Golf Club has an 18 hole parkland course, and golfers know all about the stiff lower back and the sore elbow. Add the manual trades, warehouse shifts and long days driving that a lot of Shettleston residents do for a living, and there are many reasons a body ends up needing some proper attention.

Areas covered

  • Sandyhills
  • Budhill
  • Greenfield
  • Carntyne
  • Old Shettleston Road

Patients make the trip from right across this corner of the east end: Sandyhills to the south east, Budhill and Greenfield on the north side, the streets around Old Shettleston Road, and Carntyne on the western fringe. All of them can reach the A89 within a couple of minutes, and once you are on it, Baillieston and Bargeddie pass quickly before you arrive in Coatbridge. Those nearer the railway can walk to Shettleston station instead and let the train do the work.

Questions

Coming from Shettleston

Is the clinic reachable from Shettleston without a car?

Yes. Board an eastbound train at Shettleston station on the Airdrie line and get off at Coatbridge Sunnyside. The walk from there to Cameron Street is roughly 15 to 20 minutes, and taxis are an easy alternative if you are sore.

Does Kieran treat injuries in club runners?

Running injuries are a large part of MSK physiotherapy. Kieran will look at the injury itself and at how your training has been going, then build a plan that aims to keep you moving while the problem settles, with a gradual return to full mileage.

Is a GP referral needed before booking?

No. Private physiotherapy does not need a referral. New patients book online, pay a deposit that comes off the price of the session, and complete a short consultation form before the first visit.

Are there appointments outside working hours?

The clinic offers evening and Saturday appointments. The online booking page shows live availability, so you can see what is free before you commit.
