Physiotherapy for Parkhead

Five roads meet at Parkhead Cross, and one of them, the A89, heads almost straight to the door of Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance in Coatbridge. That makes the clinic at 10 Cameron Street a practical choice for anyone in Parkhead who wants to see a physiotherapist without waiting for a referral.

Kieran Chapman, the clinic's HCPC registered physiotherapist, works across MSK physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurological physiotherapy and cardiac rehab. So alongside the usual sports strains and bad backs, the clinic is equipped to help people regaining movement after surgery or building confidence and fitness after a heart problem.

Each appointment gives you 45 minutes on your own with Kieran. Book online whenever suits you, with live availability that includes evening and Saturday slots.

Parkhead

Match days, the velodrome and a district built on steel

Celtic Park has been home to Celtic since 1892, and it is Scotland's largest football stadium by seating capacity. Most people simply call it Parkhead. Across London Road in Dalmarnock stand the arena and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, both built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The velodrome has a 250 metre indoor track, and the complex also holds a large sports hall and five a side pitches.

That puts an unusual mix of sport within walking distance. Track and road cyclists often develop knee pain or a stiff lower back from long hours on the bike, while indoor court sports like badminton bring quick changes of direction that can strain ankles and calves. Football, from Sunday league to casual kickabouts, remains the area's first love, and with it come hamstring tears and twisted knees.

Parkhead also has a long industrial memory. William Beardmore and Company's Parkhead Forge produced high grade steel until 1976, and the Forge Shopping Centre stands on the site today. Retail, warehousing, driving and care work have taken over much of the heavy lifting, and jobs that keep you on your feet or behind a wheel all day can leave a lasting toll on the neck, back and knees.

Questions

Coming from Parkhead

Will a Celtic Park match day affect getting to the clinic?

Parkhead Cross and the roads around the stadium get very busy on match days, so allow extra time or use the M8 instead of the A89 through the east end. The train from Carntyne or Bellgrove avoids the traffic altogether.

Does Kieran treat cyclists?

Yes. Cycling injuries such as knee pain and back stiffness fall within MSK physiotherapy, and Kieran will look at how the problem relates to your riding before building a plan with you.

How do returning patients pay?

Returning patients pay at the appointment, by cash or card. New patients pay a deposit when booking online, and that deposit is taken off the price of the first session.

Can the clinic help after a heart condition or surgery?

Kieran has experience in cardiac rehab and orthopaedics. At the first appointment he will assess where you are and discuss a sensible, gradual plan. Your hospital team's advice still comes first, so bring along any guidance they have given you.

How long is each appointment?

Every appointment is 45 minutes, spent one-to-one with Kieran.
