Physiotherapy for Gartcosh

Gartcosh lies a short distance north-west of Coatbridge, and Chapman Physiotherapy & Performance on Cameron Street is around 12 minutes away by car in normal traffic. It is a practical option whether you live in one of the newer estates, grew up in the village or travel in each day to the Gartcosh Business Interchange, home of the Scottish Crime Campus.

Kieran Chapman, the clinic's HCPC registered physiotherapist, works across MSK, orthopaedic, neurological and cardiac rehab cases. Each appointment is a 45 minute, one-to-one session, and you can book online whenever suits you, with evening and Saturday availability for people who cannot get away during the working day.

Gartcosh

Desk days, nature reserve walks and staying mobile in Gartcosh

The steelworks that once dominated Gartcosh closed in 1986, and the land has since taken on two very different lives. Part of it became Gartcosh Nature Reserve, protecting Scotland's biggest colony of great crested newts, with paths that wander across to Glenboig. The rest is the Gartcosh Business Interchange, where the Scottish Crime Campus houses parts of the Crown Office, the National Crime Agency and HMRC alongside a forensic laboratory.

Office and laboratory work can bring its own set of problems: neck and upper back tension, sore wrists, stiff hips and a lower back that dislikes long meetings. Physiotherapy looks at how you sit, move and load your body through the day, then gives you treatment and exercises to counter those hours at a screen.

Away from work, the village is well placed for getting outdoors. Drumpellier Country Park is just to the south, with Lochend Loch and its lochside path, and the Drumpellier Country parkrun takes place there every week. Gartcosh station also makes it easy to commute into Glasgow by train, which brings more walking, more stairs and more standing on platforms into the daily routine.

Questions

Coming from Gartcosh

Can I get the train from Gartcosh to the clinic?

Not directly. Gartcosh station is on the Cumbernauld Line to Glasgow Queen Street and Cumbernauld, which does not call at Coatbridge. The 132 or 132A bus is more practical, stopping on Alston Avenue close to Cameron Street.

I work at the Gartcosh Business Interchange. Can I fit an appointment around work?

Evening and Saturday appointments are available, and the clinic is around 12 minutes' drive from Gartcosh, so heading over after work is realistic. Live availability is shown when you book online.

Can physiotherapy help with neck and back pain from desk work?

Yes, it is a very common reason to see a physiotherapist. Kieran will look at your posture, movement and workload, and give you exercises and practical changes to try, alongside hands-on treatment where it is appropriate.

How do I pay, and do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. New patients pay a deposit online when booking, and it is deducted from the session price, then fill in a short consultation form before the first visit. Returning patients pay on the day by cash or card.
